Love Letter To America

I wrote this song to reflect my feelings about America. No matter where you sit politically, we should all have a special place in our hearts for this great country. I write a lot of comedy and this song includes some very fun lyrics.

A Love Letter to America 

Who put the duh in Florida? Who gave ten to Tennessee? 
Have you really gone to Oregon or just passed through? 
And where’s the line to Carolina, north, south, or both? Who knew? 

We’re a patchwork quilt of beauty and strife, A land of contradictions, larger-than-life. 
I’ve been to all but one state and the state of confusion, 
Still, I love this America, a beautiful illusion. 
We’ve got highways to nowhere and bridges too far, 
Dreams sold cheap beneath the stars. 

From the deserts of Arizona to Maine’s rocky coast, It’s the chaos and wonder I love the most. 
We’re a patchwork quilt of beauty and strife, A land of contradictions and larger-than-life. 
I’ve been to all but one state and the state of confusion, Still, I love this America, a beautiful illusion. 

Flying over this great place we call earth and home, The mountains and valleys, where the buffalo roam. 
From the prairies and farms to the cities that gleam, We’re a fractured but fabulous American dream. 
Who took the sweet out of Georgia’s peach pie? And who put the “ah" in Utah’s sky? 
Every corner’s got a story, some tall and some true, From the heartland’s fields to New York’s 5th Avenue.

So let’s try to get it together, even when we’re far apart, 

This land’s got a million ways to break your heart.
