History - Kevin A Kent

With over 40 years of experience in the music industry, we take pride in innovation in sound—crafting lyrics, instrumentation, vocals, mixes and mastering with precision and passion.

Kevin A. Kent has been at the forefront of transformational music technology since 1980. His journey began with the first microprocessor keyboard and MIDI, the Prophet 5, followed by pioneering work in digital sampling at E-Mu Systems with the Emulator. He then served as Director of Sales and Marketing for Roger Linn, contributing to groundbreaking developments in drum machines and music production, including the development of sound libraries for the LinnDrum and Linn 9000.

As CEO of K-Muse Inc., Kevin launched the Photon MIDI Guitar and spearheaded one of the most successful sound sampling libraries to date—the Sound Composer Series. This series defined a new era of sampling, working with a wide range of sound sources, producers, and production techniques. Back when you had to make the most of a 2-second, 8-bit sound sample, Kevin was there. Now, the possibilities are limitless.

K-Muse later licensed its Photon Guitar technology to Gibson Guitar Corporation. Kevin then took on a new executive role as President of Apple VAR Filmsonix in Hollywood, with offices at the Record Plant and Paramount Pictures Recording Studios—founded by Chris Stone, creator of the legendary Record Plant Studios.

Whether you're an aspiring artist or a seasoned professional, Kevin’s passion for music composition and production can help transform your ideas.

Kevin A Kent - Composer

Composer | Screenwriter | Director | Producer

Studied music composition with a focus on Electronic and Ethnomusicology, which shaped my passion for blending diverse musical styles. My career highlights include helping to launch sampling technology at E-MU, collaborating on drum machine innovations with Roger Linn, and working with Apple at the iconic Record Plant Studios.

I’ve been hooked on music ever since I saw The Beatles live in 1965, and my love for Pop and Motown has only grown since then. A devoted Logic Pro user, I thrive on mixing, producing, and exploring new sounds. I aim to write a few new songs each week and am eager to dive into sync licensing opportunities.

Steve has performed professionally on stage and worked as a studio musician in the recording industry in Los Angeles, and throughout the western states.  Currently,  Steve plays, records and teaches private guitar lessons in San Diego.  Influenced by an array of famous guitarists including Wes Montgomery, Joe Pass, Barney Kessel, Carlos Santana, Eric Clapton, John McLaughlin, BB King, Albert Lee, John Williams, and the one and only “Django Reinhardt”.

Steve now has a diverse and colorful Jazz Solo Style of playing. Steve’s sound can be chord-melody-bass only and/or, utilizing backing track accompaniment in a mix of genre styles.  These styles include pop jazz, traditional jazz, smooth jazz, swing, bosanova, Cuban Son Montuno, reggae, samba, jazz ballads, funk, bolero, and jazz rock.

Billy Cobin- Composer

Billy has had a long and successful career in music production. As co-Music Director of Gullah Gullah Island (Nickelodeon), Billy was one of the first to bring modern production values to kids’ music, a stylistic innovation reflected in later Nickelodeon shows like Dora the Explorer (two of whose three creators came from Gullah.) Billy wrote songs for such kids shows as Eureeka’s Castle (Nickelodeon), Seemore’s Playhouse (PBS) and Bear in the Big Blue House (Disney).

Billy’s written a lot of commercial jingles – Mattel (many spots), Diet Rite, Nehi Soda, Jiffy-Pop and Six Flags Amusement Parks, just to name a few. And Billy’s also produced music for major TV networks, including the theme for NBC’s “Exposé” and underscore for the CNN “Democracy in America" series.

As an expert producer/programmer, Billy’s done recording sessions with many different major recording artists, including Carly Simon, The Pointer Sisters, The Fat Boys, Latin Rascals and Billy Idol, amonsgt others.

Guy Gonzales - Jazz Guitarist

When I first heard Guy's brand of Gypsy swing writing and playing, I couldn't believe how it struck a chord in my mind. Historically, it is significant music. Guy nails it. And oddly enough as I listened to the performance, I realized I could never play with this fast, historically accurate performance. But it took me away to the streets of Paris.

As a musician Guy has played with internationally acclaimed jazz artists including; Sonny Rollins, Larry Coryell, and Claire Fisher. He has also played for many celebrities including a former US President. Guy has had the distinction of performing on the KPBS award-winning music program called “Three Generations of the Blues” featuring blues legend Big Mama Thornton. He has also recorded with local Jazz artists including The Bruce Cameron Quintet, The Carlos Angeles Band, as well as Mark Hunter and, the late, Carl Evans from Fattburger. Guy continues to perform in Southern California with his Gypsy Jazz trio called The Gypsy Swing Cats.

Jimmy Crimmins - Bluesman

Jimmy is one of those traditional blues guitars who playss every note with intention and meaning. There are few people who have the breadth and musical vocabulary in blues as Jimmy. As a composer he knows who he is and what he loves about the blues.

Jimmy's dedication to the blues guitar genre has been something deep and resounding for 50 years. We've known each other since 1979. We had some fun recording some music with Jason Scheff prior to working with "Chicago" I just heard about a piece we did with Mike Hightower, acclaimed blues bassist and LA producer. I feel blessed to now almost 50 years later to be working with them both.

Jimmy's blues compositions are true and blue. He's a bluesman and his compostions speak for themselves.
